Brookline Patch Column: Declarations of Independence

Having just had their birthday, Muffin and Squeaker are now at that age where they're expressing their independence and desire to do things on their own. "Muffin do it!" and "Squeaker turn!" come out of their mouths with greater and greater frequency now, as they want to do things themselves, whether it's sweep the floor, change their own diapers, or build a nuclear reactor in the kitchen.

So Nomi's The Brookline Parent column for Brookline Patch this week, Declarations of Independence, is all about how we're dealing with our daughters' newly found independence. Perhaps it's a little late for Independence Day, but hey, didn't it take a while for the declaration to be signed?

Go read Declarations of Independence, to see a picture of the kids with a broom and to find out how we're coping.

You have to tell them very firmly that they will have to wait until they are at least 12 before they can build a nuclear reactor in the kitchen.
